Barbara's story:

Before I found the group I was feeling alone, isolated, overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, and defeated. When I first logged on, I was immediately hooked. I was able to read and reread other stories of MFT’s and MSW’s having similar experiences to what I had experienced and expressing similar feelings. Many of the responses were encouraging and uplifting. The group was like an invisible cheer leader

Once I felt comfortable contributing my story, the feedback from others felt so good. “Somebody out there cares”. The online group was there for me the whole time even though the group members were probably unaware of their impact. I would recommend this group to ANYONE studying for the licensure exams. There’s something in it for everybody.

The shared information in the group was presented in a way that motivated me to try things I never would have thought of trying….like hypnotherapy sessions which I believe were responsible for containing my anxiety and assisted me in finally passing.

What does free online study group even mean?

The study group is primarily asynchronous, meaning people log in, post questions, and post answers at any time, 24/7. This provides ultimate flexibility and convenience. People share files, internet links, book recommendations, experiences, frustrations, successes, and sometimes their pictures. Each person chooses their own level of involvement.

I don't even know how to sign up for an online group!

Just plug in your e-mail below, click Join This Group and it will take you to a brief sign up screen. I recommend that new users ask for the daily digest, which puts all of the study group e-mails into one e-mail each day. It can keep you from getting overwhelmed, and you can quickly browse the table of contents for messages of interest. All new users are approved before they can see messages. That is to give the utmost privacy to the group and to keep spammers out! It can take as little as a minute, to as much as a day (in rare circumstances).

But, I am not really an internet person...

If you have made it here, you have the resources and the skill level to be part of an online study group! Here are some different ways that people get involved:

  • Join and just read messages and "lurk," meaning you do not post questions, but benefit from the questions of other members. You can also look for study partner or group requests in your area.

  • Join and post a request for an in person study partner or group. Check out the web-site links, files, and database sections of the website for the full benefit of what studiers before you have shared ;0)

  • Join, watch, and when you feel comfortable, introduce yourself and ask your questions.

  • Do all of the above and share your experience and expertise with others by answering their questions.

  • All of the above and... you fill in the gap. People volunteer to facilitate study groups over instant messenger, chat rooms, on the telephone, post study questions, mnemonics, and any other thing you can imagine. Some past members have even become moderators of the site to keep things running smoothly and ensure no spam leaks through.

Get from the study group what you need. Don't even know what you need yet? Even better, see what others need and what is and is not working for them. Support and community are imperative to this process! Not one more intern should feel like they have to endure this process alone!

Sign up right now and start getting connected almost immediately! It is free- you have nothing to lose!
